This is Manny Story.
Born in 1987, raised in El Monte, California, Manuel was the middle of 2 brothers. Always fascinated by art as a kid growing up, Manny constantly drew random things but mainly diesel trucks and lettering. It wasn’t until he attended South El Monte High School where he found a real calling for art. Under the mentorship of Len Mathes, he was pushed as a sophomore doing Junior and senior projects. From pencil, charcoal to multimedia he dabbled in it all because he was just that advanced and talented. Winning numerous awards, first place blue ribbons at the LA county fair, being recognized as most talented in the year book during his graduation year, being interviewed on a local cable television about his art, Manny began to gain confidence and momentum.
Having attended the USC Ryman program for young artist and Art Center College in Pasadena for two years while in high school, he was constantly pushing looking to expand his knowledge in the art field. Upon graduating from high school, Manny received a full ride scholarship to Digital Business and Design college which he attended for 6 years, studying graphic design and music. During those 6 years, Manny dabbled in a little bit of everything from life lessons on and off the court which were tough but he overcame all the obstacles that were thrown at him. Working several jobs, living in from El Monte to Hawaii to Las Vegas and back to El Monte he decided to follow his art passion. Manny’s mom had put so much effort, time and support into him becoming an artist that it would be a waste to throw that and all his talents away.
Fast forward to 2012 Manny began painting for the first time in 7 years where he found his true passion in acrylics. Having his first solo show in 2012, Manny began to build a network and fanbase that supports him and loves his art. Collectors, first timers, business’s and buyers of all type own a piece of some sort. Gaining momentum from 2012-2017, Manny has now gone full time in his passion for art and his art career. Painting non stop commissions and requests as well as murals for clients in LA and the USC student housing projects. With over 100 paintings under his belt, Manny Continues to grow and expand his knowledge for art. Gaining new fans, producing more art, learning better techniques, which is what art is about... growing!!!
Its 2020 and Manny, who has yet to reach his peak, is just breaking through to find himself and grow as an artist. Constantly trying to be better than his last masterpiece, Manny is constantly taking on larger, more complicated and complex requests. Its been a rough journey but the path is being paved for future and upcoming artists. Keep an eye out and buy a masterpiece now as the values will only go up cause this artist will be around for centuries to come.
What inspires his style?
Manny's style is vast. As an artist, he doesn’t pertain to 1 style. Manny ventures out and combines styles and techniques. Inspired by the moment and actual objects being painted, Manny can be influenced anytime, any place and will make adjustments as needed.
Favorite thing to draw.
Manny doesn’t necessarily have a favorite or funny thing he likes to draw, as most drawings/paintings are 1/1 originals commissioned by the client. He enjoys painting owls and money I’d like to say.
Advice to future artist.
Do what makes you happy, and learn a style/techniques that you’re comfortable with. It's okay to learn from other artists/teachers and other art styles but that doesn't mold you to be you as an artist. Do what you feel is right cause there are no wrongs in art, only beautiful mistakes. Learn to be self taught, learn to adapt, learn to grow, accept change, pay attention to detail and constantly draw...
Can’t stop, won’t stop !!!

BZERK APPAREL X OSKE

BZERK APPAREL X OSKE

“Oske” is a graffiti artist from Los Angeles. If you live around the Los Angeles area then for sure you’ve seen him up. Whether it’s a bomb on the street, the fwy or just a slap tag that caught your eye. Our collaboration with him has been in the talks for a while. We’ve known Oske for a few years now and we’ve both seen the growth of our craft. Us as a Streetwear brand and him as a graffiti artist. This project makes sense because we grew up writing ourselves and BZERK is a lifestyle brand. We’ve created different designs that are based off how we grew up in the streets of LA and experiences we’ve been through so from the beginning we’ve made graffiti related designs. What was created was our ideas and the artwork was done by Oske. This project is original because aside from being able to purchase the collection you will also see us up in the streets. Hope y’all enjoy....

BZERK APPAREL X OSKE capsule collection. Available now...
